Various Resin Types
Several types of ion-exchange resins are used in the cane sugar refining process:
SBA Gel Type 1 – a low-crosslinking polystyrenic gel resin, recommended for cost-effective decolorization of low-color syrups (200–400 I.U.)
SBA Porous Type 1 – a low-crosslinking polystyrenic porous resin, ideal for economical decolorization of mid-color syrups (400–800 I.U.)
SBA Porous Type 2 – an acrylic porous resin, suitable for decolorizing high-color syrups (1,000–2,000 I.U.)
